Tin Disk in Polyethylene Bag

Heterogeneous Example: XRF Analysis of Tin Disk in Polyethylene Bag:

A resealable (2-mil, 0.002”, standard thickness) polyethylene clear plastic bag is virtually invisible to the XRF measurement, reducing the intensity of the tin signal by <5% based on several measurements. The quantitation is usually not adversely affected, so such baggies are used routinely for holding samples.
